I think it's perfectly normal; Part XII

I swallow chewing gum.

And please, it does not take 7 years to digest (click here for more info)

I used to swallow my gum as a child. For all I know it's still inside me.

Well...if you ate a bunch of it and swallowed it you could cause a bowel obstruction. But seriously to do that it would have to be a softball size piece of game. Therefore, I think you're perfectly normal in this situation--although I only do that when I'm in a place where I can't find a garbage can. Logic and all aside, it's probably just a deep seeded childhood fear.

"Gum" not "Game". Sheesh! I need to get my head in the game! :)

I swallow my gum sometimes also but only if I HAVE to....but I always get a tummy ache afterwards. Is it all in my head, probably, but seriously..I get a tummy ache after I swallow gum.

WHAT???? It doesn't take 7 years? but that's what my parents always told me.

Here is what the internet doctor says...

If you swallow gum, it's true that your body can't digest it. But the gum doesn't sit in your stomach. It progresses relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted in your stool.

Kristi, I love you and all, but please don't use the word stool on my blog.

Um, quoting a gross word is just as bad as saying the gross word.

Dr. Internet said it.

But you tainted my blog with it.

Stool.

so gross...

My 18 month old daughter ate a whole pack of Trident gum (wrappers and all). It comes out smelling the same as it went in. So if you want to change pleasant smelling diapers...
