Things Aren't Always What They Seem . . .

It really stinks when you find out that a friend you've known for years and years isn't who they appear to be.

When you find out that they're talking about you behind your back - and then lying to your face to cover it up.

Sometimes people just stink.

Heidi, you have no way of knowing this, but this one post sums up my last two months. I needed to read that. Sorry you are going through it, but somehow it soothes my soul knowing I am not the only one experiencing this RIGHT NOW. I have been stunned into silence, but somehow reading this short post, I feel unchained. It happens in life, but life doesn't have to stop just because real character has been revealed as less than stellar.

Thank you.

I have lived through this kind of situation in the past and, just reading your words, Heidi, produced a physiological response in me. I've come to believe that we live in a world full of damaged people. As we bump up against them - as we even form friendships with them - we are impacted by the residue of their (hidden) pain. My prayer would be not to allow this person to damage you. This is about issues of trust as much as friendship. Don't allow this person to make you paranoid about ever trusting another friend again. Take your pain to the One who is now and forever Totally Trustworthy. He suffered the ultimate betrayal, and it did not change who He is. Keep your beautiful and oh-so-open spirit. May this experience only make you stronger and more resilient.

Just remember.
When others are talking about you behind your back YOU are the center of attention.
Who doesn't like to be the center of attention (ok maybe I'm twisted and slightly self absorbed).
