When my doctor prescribes antibiotics for me, I never use the entire prescription. I usually take about half of it (unless it's a Z-Pack in which case I'll take the whole thing).
That way, I always have an emergency stash of antibiotics so the next time I get sick I don't have to go back to the doctor (click here to gain insight regarding my aversion to visiting my doctor).

My husband does the exact same thing.... even to the Z-pack. And that is one of the coolest pics you ever found!
hi. first the gum and now this? how can we be friends. must i school you and (Apparently JD?) on the importance of finishing your antibiotics?
I'm glad that has worked for you. I'm scared to death not to finish mine. One time I didn't take my antibiotics as prescribed, and my infection, which was mastitis, if you know what that is, got VERY bad and had major repurcussions. Kristi will have to fill you in because it is not blog-appropriate to describe in detail.
How do you like my scare tactics? I am SO turning into my mom.
I don't do this but I think it is GENIUS!...I don't go to the Dr, never ever! So if I do go I am obviously dying, so this would help me have to go even less..good one Heidi, I am impressed.
if it works for you.....I'll have to try it sometime.
But my super human immune system hasn't had me on antibiotics for quite a few years.
I don't want to rain on your parade, Heidi, BUUUUUT......not finishing your antibiotics helps make "superbugs" that are anti-biotic resistant. As fun as having to take antibiotics is NOT, not having them do any good when you really need them is very dangerous and can even be deadly. Talk to your doctor on that one before you pat yourself on the back.
In other news, congratulations on the 1 year anniversary of your blog with the next entry! I enjoy reading them and catching up with you, though it is rather one-sided! (sorry).
I almost never go to the doctor, not because I'm scared, but because I usually feel like it would be a waste of my time and Blue Cross's money for me to go tell him I've got a stuffy nose and have been coughing and sneezing, and have him roll his eyes when I'm not looking, tell me I've got a cold/the flu, drink liquids, rest, take a day or two off work, and then start working hard again so I can push my body to the limits, get sick again, and repeat the process.
I don't usually don't take antibiotics, but when I do, I finish it so that when I finally DO have to go, they'll still work for me and maybe save my life from the dire situation that made me go to the MD in the first place. We all love you and want you around for a long time, so take those dumb little pills.
BTW, awesome pic!
