Perspective

I started the day complaining about having to make a presentation, having to get up earlier than normal, not having enough coffee - you know, all the things that make mornings so gross.

I thought that I had it so bad.

Throughout the day, I was reminded of how fortunate I am.

A friend of mine was in a car accident on her way to work this morning.

A sweet little lady who helps out at our church broke her hip this afternoon.

This evening, Kurt and Hope were in the car, and watched the car directly in front of them get t-boned at about 50 miles an hour.

Tonight, I'm home with my family.

We're all safe, sound and healthy.

I'm ashamed of my attitude this morning...

I have so much to be thankful for.

(The name of this painting is Grateful Heart; the artist is Kathy Ammon. It summarizes exactly how I feel)

Nice post. Funny how we are given perspective, when we are not looking for it...do you think the painting is about some friends consoling a woman who is upset that the people at Starbucks don't know her name, even though she orders the same thing every day?

Jon makes me laugh....

Even though I didn't experience those things today...reading it on your blog helped me gain a new perspective too.

In other news...did you get my email yesterday? I hope that I have your correct email address...you don't have to answer me on this...:)

God loves slapping me with perspective all the time (I tend to be a whiner over minor things.) I deserve it every time he reminds me to stop thinking about myself and to be grateful for what I've been given.

We feel the gratitude here as well as the fires have been raging around us for three days. Our church is still standing and everything around it is black as night. I'm so very thankful when God has the mercy to give me a dose of perspective with a "close call" rather than a "walk with grief".

Wow. The one about Kurt and Hope witnessing that accident so close gave me shills. Thanks for the good reminder. As always--awesome pic.

Heidi...I did read this blog yesterday, I just didn't comment. I was absorbing it. You know we've been going through a lot lately that is very depressing and frustrating and we try to push through by looking for the good in things. It was good for me to read this. Thanks for your perspectives.
